Information for completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Access to the 2010-2011 FAFSA opened on January 1, 2010. You must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for federal student aid and to apply for most state and college aid. Applying online with FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.gov (formerly www.fafsa.ed.gov) is faster and easier than using a paper FAFSA. Using the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet will help you gather the information you need in order to submit the actual FAFSA.
Both the student and the parents will need a PIN to electronically sign this document.
This financial aid form is free of charge.
Each college has their own deadline for submitting the FAFSA - watch these deadlines!
You do not have to pay to get help or submit your FAFSA. You can submit your FAFSA for free online at www.fafsa.gov.
Federal Student Aid provides free help online at www.fafsa.gov or you can call 1-800-4-FED-AID.
For any Illinois state aid questions, you can contact ISAC - Illinois Student Assistance Commission) at 847-948-8550 or 1-800-899-ISAC.
Under Files & Forms to the right of this section, several financial aid handouts are available for your use: Financial Aid Q & A and "What You Need to Complete the FAFSA" should answer many of your questions.
