Maine South Graduation & Senior Events 2018

The Rosemont Theatre provides ample accessible seating for those in need.  No reservation is required.  One additional person may sit in the accessible seating area with this guest.

Ceremony
-    Graduates must report to their counselor no later than 5:30 PM.
-    Doors will open at 5:30 PM for general admission of parents and guests.
-    Doors on the main floor will close at 6:20 in order to allow for the start of the processional.
-    Late guests will be directed to the balcony.
-    The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.

Caps, Gowns and Tickets
Caps, gowns and tickets will be distributed at the Senior Breakfast on Thursday, May 17th.  Students were sized earlier in the year and payment was included in the book fees at the start of the year.  Each student will receive 6 tickets‚Äč for their guests.  Graduates are not required to have a ticket.  Those students not attending the Senior Breakfast may pick up their cap, gown and tickets in their SST office after 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 17th.  In the event you need to request additional tickets, first, we ask that you reach out to families you know who will not be using their allotted tickets.  If you are unable to secure additional tickets you may request them via email to cbednarek@maine207.org or via phone at 847-692-8206.

Parking
There are approximately 500 parking spaces available at Rosemont Theatre.  Additional parking is available at the Convention Center Parking Garage, however, there is a fee (approximately $15) associated with parking in the garage.  Also, keep in mind it is about a 15 minute walk to the Rosemont Theatre from the parking garage.

Attire
Young men: dress shirts, ties, dress pants, dress shoes.  Young women: dresses, skirts or dress pants, dress shoes (stage steps are steep so wear lower heels). Students who are dressed inappropriately will not be allowed to march. NO decorating of caps, NO flowers or corsages / NO flip flops, jeans, or gym shoes.  Students are discouraged from bringing any personal belongings (phones, purses, bags, cameras, or other items). There is no space available to store or secure personal items during the ceremony.

2.  Enter the students' last name, Maine South High School, and graduation year 2018.
3.  You will be directed to your student's photos and you can place an order.

Flowers
Flowers will be available for purchase before and after the ceremony at the Rosemont Theatre through Grad Flowers, LLC on the evening of commencement.  This service is provided for your convenience should you desire to present flowers to your graduate after the ceremony.  To pre-order your graduate's flowers click herePlease note:  Rosemont Theatre does not allow helium balloons to be brought into the building.

Buses load 8:30 pm in the jock lot.
Buses return 5:00 am in the north lot.
All tickets were sold in April.


Senior Finals
May 14, 2018 - May 15, 2018
The designated days for senior finals are Monday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 15.  However, teachers may choose to administer the final exam for a course during the week of May 7 if flexibility is needed due to AP exam conflicts or if students will need more time to complete the final exam for a course.  Detailed information can be found here.

Senior Honors Night
May 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM
Each year we pay special tribute to the many Maine South graduates who distinguish themselves through scholarship and citizenship.  Senior Honors Night will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, and recognizes the Maine South internal award recipients (Departmental Awards, Memorial Scholarships, Good Will Awards, etc.).  In addition, we will recognize a handful of Community Scholarships that do not have formal recognition events to honor the recipients (Maine South Parent Club Scholarships, Park Ridge Panhellenic Scholarship, Chamber of Commerce, Park Ridge Rotary, etc.).  Should your son or daughter be invited to take part in this event, please plan on attending.

Senior Breakfast

Seniors are invited to celebrate the end of four years of high school at the Senior Breakfast on Thursday, May 17th, at Avalon Banquets located in Elk Grove Village from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  No admittance after 9:30 a.m., no dismissal before 12:00 p.m.  Tickets will go on sale for the Senior Breakfast in the Maine South Bookstore starting April 30th through May 9th and are $18.  On May 10th the price will increase to $23.  No tickets will be sold after May 14th and no tickets will be sold at the door.  Students will have time to sign yearbooks, pick-up their caps, gowns and graduation tickets, and enjoy each other’s company during the breakfast buffet.

Senior Prom

Prom is always an important event in a senior’s high school career.  The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with a reception from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (no admittance after 7:00 p.m.).  A sit-down, formal dinner will be served from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with dancing to follow.  Tickets will be sold in the bookstore from April 30th through May 9th.   The ticket price is $60 per person and will increase to $75 on May 10th.  No tickets will be sold after May 11th and no tickets will be sold at the door.   Guest forms are required for non-Maine South students and can be downloaded here.  Maine South ID (photo ID for guests) is required.  Guests must be under 21 years of age.

Please be sure that your son or daughter is appropriately dressed for each occasion.  The attire for Senior Breakfast is business casual.  Prom dresses should adhere to our school dress code (long enough to reach mid-thigh and not be low-cut in the front or back) and gentlemen should be dressed in a suit or tuxedo.

Maine South reserves the right to remove any student from the Senior Breakfast and/or Senior Prom who is not properly dressed or who is not acting appropriately.

No personal checks and no Discover cards accepted as payment for the Senior Breakfast or Senior Prom – Cash, Mastercard or Visa only.
