The Maine South Yearbook was named one of the best in the country by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association based upon rigorous judging standards against an exhaustive rubric.
The yearbook “EYRIE”earned a Gold rating for the 2017-18 edition (Volume 54), the highest available. Yearbooks must reach at least a score of 800 on a 1,000 point rating to earn Gold status. The Maine South yearbook earned a score of 948.
Even more impressive is the fact that the yearbook earned All-Columbian honors in the “verbal” or written category by earning a score of 396 out of 400. The announcement from Columbia Scholastic Press Association indicates that All-Columbian honors “are awarded, as part of the initial judging, to those publications that receive very high point totals.”
“I am extremely honored that our students have reached this milestone for the first time ever in the history of the school,” says English teacher and Yearbook Sponsor Richard Jones. “To be recognized as one of the best yearbooks in the country is a tribute to the dedication and hard work the students put in last year.”
