Mid-Semester Grade Progress

We are approximately midway through the first semester of the school year.  If you have not already, now is a good time to sit down with your student and review academic progress in all of their courses.  To view grades in the Infinite Campus portal, follow these instructions.  

 

If your student is currently earning a D or F in any class, you will receive a separate email notification later this week, as well.  Interventions and supports may be offered and/or recommended to your student by their teacher or student services team.  

 

Consider talking with your student about their successes and hopes for the remainder of the semester.  What is something you are proud of?  What is something that has surprised you?  What is something you need more support with?  What support(s) will you access at school?

 

As a reminder, the following supports are available to students:

  • Office hours – In general, all teachers are available for office hours Tuesday through Friday from 3:05 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  
  • Academic Resource Center (ARC) – The ARC is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is staffed by teaching assistants and teachers in mathematics, science, and English, and peer tutors in all subjects.  Students can enter through the library or from the B-hallway.
  • Peer tutoring – Students can visit this website to schedule a tutoring session with a Maine South peer.

 

The last day of classes before winter break for all students is Friday, December 17th and this is the last day of the semester.  We will follow the regular block schedule through December 17th.  Teachers and course teams will close the semester with lessons, activities, or assessments that best meet the needs of their course objectives.  This may include presentations, projects, unit assessments, cumulative assessments, or a typical lesson.  Teachers will communicate to students what the end of the semester looks like soon if they haven’t already.

 

Please work with your student to reach out to their teachers if you have additional questions about academic progress.  We appreciate your continued partnership.
