District Profile

Acknowledged to be among the nation’s best, all three schools in Maine Township High School District 207 are comprehensive learning facilities that have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in the National Secondary School Recognition Program.

Approximately 6,400 culturally diverse students – grades nine through twelve – are offered an educational program of various ability levels: Advanced Placement, accelerated, regular and transitional. Beyond the classroom, Maine 207 offers outstanding athletic and fine arts programs, and more than one hundred clubs and activities providing ample opportunities for personal growth and development.

Students consistently perform at levels well above the national and state norms. Among the leaders in Advanced Placement participation and testing, Maine Township High School students also earn recognition in the National Merit and Illinois State scholar competitions and in other academic, career-related, fine arts and athletic programs.

District 207 has been a leader in 1-to-1 Technology in which teachers and students utilize Chromebooks and G Suite for Education to expand learning and collaboration opportunities. Maine 207 schools feature state-of-the-art computer writing centers, a district wide computerized library system linked to municipal libraries, university libraries, and research facilities. Well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, shops, radio stations, television studios, and general purpose areas such as gyms, auditoriums, field houses, and cafeterias mean that our students receive their education in an environment that promotes a range of learning opportunities.

Professional development and continuous improvement are points of emphasis for teachers, all of whom follow a coaching plan and participate in weekly department collaboration sessions.

The three high schools serve students from Des Plaines and Park Ridge, as well as parts of Glenview, Harwood Heights, Morton Grove, Niles, Norridge, Norwood Park Township, and Rosemont.
