Important Message Regarding Senior Pranks

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

As we approach the final months of the school year, we want to address an issue that has unfortunately become a recurring concern in District 207, senior pranks. While some parents and students may see these acts as harmless traditions, we must be unequivocally clear: any unauthorized entry into school buildings, tampering with property, or causing disruptions is considered criminal trespass, vandalism, and destruction of property. These are not jokes but they are serious violations of the law and school policy.

In previous years, students have broken into school facilities after hours, caused thousands of dollars in damage, disrupted school operations, and created unsafe conditions for others. These incidents have resulted in police involvement, formal charges, school discipline, and consequences that have impacted students’ ability to participate in graduation ceremonies and other end-of-year events. Any student who engages in this behavior will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We understand that senior year is about memories and making most of the time you have together. We want to celebrate our seniors’ accomplishments with pride and positivity and will do so in many ways at our schools. There are countless ways for students to make memories that honor their time in high school without breaking the law or endangering others. Let’s work together to ensure that the end of the school year reflects the hard work, character, and maturity we expect from our students.

Thank you for discussing this with your senior and your cooperation as we work toward a successful end to the school year.
