Four DECA Business Club members traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to compete in the DECA international competition with 14,000 students from throughout the world.

Paolo Bacigalupi 2012

Award-winning author Paolo Bacigalupi signed copies of his books and answered students questions about writing during his author visit to Maine South on May 3rd. He also spoke to students about summer reading titles Ship Breaker and The Drowned Cities.

#1 on the German Exam 2012

German student, Claire D, placed #1 on the National German Exam. Claire was awarded a trip to Germany and study program for the summer.

Chinese 3 Silver Medal 2012

Peter O, a Chinese 3 student received the silver medal and won one of the two Taiwan government scholarships in the Midwest Chinese Speech Contest on April 21. (Peter’s parents, Peter, Madam Chen: Director of Taiwan Cultural Division in Chicago,& Ms.Shi)

FCCLA State 2012

Accounting Contest 2012

Maine South students competed in the annual Oakton Community College Accounting Contest. Both the Accounting 1 and 2 teams finished in third place in the contest.

The Boys Varsity Volleyball Team won the 24 team Warren Invitational going 5-0 with a win over New Trier in the final. The team is 8-2 and currently ranked in the top 20.

Southwords Awards 2012

For the first time in Maine South history, Southwords earned the 2012 Golden Eagle award for overall excellence. In addition to this "BEST IN CLASS" designation, the students earned a gold certificate on their 2012 critique as well as 9 individua awards.

Foreign Language Dominican Republic Trip 2012

Maine South Foreign Language students in the Dominican Republic with the youth group Brigada Verde. The MS group donated books for their school library and then donated clothing to another organization called Jardin de los Ninos.
